    Dr. Karen Tobias is a Full Professor of Small Animal Surgery at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. There she teaches and performs small animal soft tissue surgeries. Dr. Tobias has published over 50 scientific articles and book chapters on small animal surgery and is a regular columnist for ESPN Outdoors. She is known across the world for her work on liver shunts in dogs. In addition, she is a member of the Board of Regents of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and is currently President of the Society of Veterinary Soft Tissue Surgery.

    All of this experience and her love for animals shine through in DIY Network's Barkitecture, where she teaches families how to adopt and care for man's best friend.
