Carpenter-turned-celebrity Norm Abram was "discovered" by This Old House creator, executive producer and director Russell Morash, who had commissioned him to build a barn on Russ' suburban Boston property. Admired for his easy-going manner and common-sense approach to renovation, Abram is an uncompromising old-world craftsman and a pioneer who searches out new construction products and approaches. He has authored eight companion books, including This Old House: The Best of Ask Norm, Essential Hand Tools: 26 Tools to Renovate and Repair Your Home, Classics From The New Yankee Workshop and more. His appearances at home enthusiast and trade shows across the country and on The Late Show With David Letterman, Oprah!, Today, Entertainment Tonight and Good Morning America are extremely popular. Abram attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he studied mechanical engineering and business administration, and serves on the board of trustees of Old Sturbridge Village in Sturbridge, Mass.
