Jon Eakes is hosting his fifth Canadian national television series with Just Ask Jon Eakes. In the early 1970s, Eakes moved to Quebec, where he established a cabinet shop and renovation business. He is active in building apprenticeship programs and teaching night courses related to renovation. Eakes took his training skills national (in Canada) by taking over the weekly handyman show Mr. Chips in 1978. This led to home shows and carpentry courses throughout Canada.
This all-around handyman became known throughout North America for his television series Renovation Zone and his home video series From House to Home. Montreal renovation enthusiasts made his call-in radio program Home Improvement another hit.
Eakes' decision to settle in Quebec and immerse himself in French culture has put him in a rare position to develop communication across both French and English Canada. His association with the Quebec Home Builders' Association (APCHQ) has reinforced this strong connection. He regularly delivers courses to contractors for the APCHQ and sits on the Technical Research Committee of the Canadian Home Builders' Association.
