Lynda Lyday, an experienced home-improvement expert and do-it-yourselfer, started out as an aspiring actor in New York City and ended up with her own construction company! Forgoing the traditional actor's sideline -- waiting tables --she instead joined the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, becoming both the first woman to win a Golden Hammer Award and the first to teach carpentry to union apprentices. After launching her own construction company, in 1993, she became much sought after as a renovator of celebrity homes, and in 1997 she was invited to become the on-camera interior finish carpenter for the Discovery Channel's series Gimme Shelter. From there she moved on to HGTV's The Fix and Blitz Build, and now DIY is proud to have her services as one of the hosts of Talk2DIY.
Lyday is currently at work on a Home Repair and Renovation Guide, Lynda Lydays Do It Yourself, and still finds the time to develop series and segment concepts for television. From fundamental home-repair techniques to advanced do-it-yourself projects, she brings a fresh clarity to weekend or everyday how-to projects. Her tool line, Lyday Tools, is scheduled for Spring of 2005.
