Steve Bull was born in Newport, South Wales, in the United Kingdom, where at the age of 15 he took a five-year apprenticeship under a master decorator. During his apprenticeship, he also attended Newport College of Art and Design and studied the practice and theory of decoration and design. He earned his City and Guilds with honors and was a time-indentured apprentice/journeyman. He is now considered a master craftsman. In 1980, Steve moved to San Francisco, where he teaches and applies faux and decorative finishes to many of the finer homes in California's Pacific Heights, Sea Cliff, St. Francis Woods and Woodside areas. No stranger to hard work, he served two years in the Merchant Marines. Maybe that's why he lives on a 45-foot cabin cruiser? He's also been a musician for over 17 years, with drums and vocals as his focus. Eight of those years he spent touring Britain and Europe!
As the host of DIY Network's Fresh Coat, he shares with everyone his expertise, creativity and unique character.
