    Materials:

    15' heat strip
    nylon zip ties
foam insulator tubes (diameter to fit hose and strip)
    black electrician tape

    Tools:

    Scissors

Preparing RV Fresh-Water Hose for Winter

    1. Attach heat-strip tape using electrical tape to the fresh water hose. Utilize the spiral method—or parallel to the hose.

    2. Install insulating tubes up to the end of the fitting and secure with nylon wire ties.

    3. Make sure that the end of the heat tape and thermostat are exposed out the end of the insulating tubes.

    4. Connect the water hose to park supply and plug the heat tape into the 15-amp service on the campground pedestal. Connect to water entry on RV.

    5. Check for leaks and make sure the LED light is activated on the thermostat.

Owner's Advice: Eliminating Interior RV Condensation

A big problem with winter RVing is interior condensation. The combination of warm air inside the RV and cold aire outside the RV can lead to condensation on the RV windows. Lynette Brinkis shares a couple of tricks for preventing this from happening.

    • Place desiccant crystals (figure A) in a pan near windows.

    • Leave a window or ceiling vent open in front and back of RV to promote circulation.
