This week the doctor installs an awning lock and helps with an RV water leak.

RV Doctor House Call #1: Installing an Awning Lock

Materials and Tools:

awning lock kit
drill

Line up the block assemble with the arm to make sure the pin has enough clearance after installation (figure A).
1. Mark the location with a template sticker to ensure that the holes are drilled in the proper place.

2. Pre-drill the holes.

3. Push screws through the holes and attach mechanism to the awning arm.

4. Mark the position where the pin will be in locked position.

5. Roll up the awning to the exact place the pin will need to be when locked.

6. Drill a hole in the marked spot on the end cap.

7. Screw the self tightening screw in the end cap.

8. Now the awning can be locked in to place with a simple switch of the mechanism.

RV Doctor House Call #2: Water Leak

Tools:

crescent wrench

1. Disassemble the flooring under the sink to get a full look at the area.

2. In this case the leak is caused by a bad connection between the icemaker and the water purifier.

3. Tighten fitting with crescent wrench at source of leak.
