Note: Bumper stickers are designed for the bumper and not the rear glass because they can block your vision. In addition, if placed on the rear defroster, it can cause a short in the defroster.- The first thing you need to do is spray the sticker with an ammonia based cleaner, making sure to thoroughly saturate the sticker. Another option is to use label removers (figure A) to get you started. Make sure you remove all the product with a cloth.
- A hair dryer can also soften the adhesive of the bumper sticker and make it more pliable.
- You can then remove the sticker with your fingernails, or you can even use a plastic putty knife or kitchen frosting spreader (figure B). A gummy eraser will even work. Do not use a razor blade!
- Work the edges a little and then peel it as you work (figure C). Once the sticker is removed, use window cleaner to clean the surface well.
- If a sticker is on the inside of the car and on the defroster line, do not scrap the line because you can damage it. Scrape above and below the line. If you do damage a defrost line, you can purchase a repair kit (figure D) to fix the damage. The kits are easy to use.
