    Figure A

    • Silicone sprays (figure A) are good to use on the weather stripping of your vehicle. For rubber products on your vehicle, you do not want to use an oil based product because it causes the rubber to decompose or swell. Silicone products are totally compatible with rubber weather stripping. Spray some silicone onto a rag and then rub it into the weather stripping.

Do this on a periodic basis -- every two to three months, and more often in the winter season where it gets very cold. The silicone will help keep the doors from sticking, etc.

    • Automobile carpeting is different from carpet in your home. Underneath the jute can be a couple of different things. Sometimes the carpet is backed by foam. Be sure you use automotive products for cleaning carpets on your carpet -- not household carpet cleaner.

If your carpet is wet and musty, you need to vacuum up any liquid. You may need to remove the carpet and put a fan underneath the carpet to help it dry out.

If your carpet is stained or has odors, there are several different products on the market that can help.
