Headlight Adjustment From "Talk2DIY Automotive" episode DTTA-109

• Headlight adjustment is something that you can do yourself. Some vehicles require a special tool to adjust the headlights, but many have either a screw or bolt. The independent shops and dealerships use special devices that allow very precise headlight adjustments.

• You should not have to adjust your headlights unless you have had a collision or have had repair done to the front of the vehicle. You can do a ballpark adjustment with this process. First, you need to locate the adjustment knob for the headlights (figure A).

• Measure the distance from the ground to the center of your headlight. Go out 20 feet and put a line (figure B) at the exact height that would be one foot lower than the center position of your headlight. Adjust your lights until they hit that line.
