    Installing The Observation System

Important: There may be installation variations among different observation systems, and some instructions may be vehicle-specific. Read and follow the product wiring instructions (figure A), and consult our vehicle manual for your car's harness connections.

    Steps:

    • The hook and loop tape mounts easily to the roof panel and the camera with its tape goes into place (figure B).

    • The electrical cable is connected and we start running it by tucking it into the headliner roof panel.

    • With the baby cam cable run to the front of the car, the cable is taped onto the A-pillar along with the mirror cable and the pillar cover is re-installed. The cables are then secured down and under the door weather-strip (figure C).

    • To identify the wires that you need to connect to in your particular car, consult your service manual or an on-line repair service.

    • Important Safety Alert: The air bag harness is usually bright yellow (figure D) and should not be tampered with while working on electrical components. Consult your service manual for specific procedures to prevent deployment.

Soldered connections are recommended for the wiring.

    Wiring Tips

Read and follow the product instructions to hook the wires up to your vehicle.

    • After stripping a section of the car's harness wire, use a screwdriver to split the wire and then insert and wrap the new wire into the section.

    • The connection can then be soldered using a soldering gun and electrical solder.

    • Once cooled, the connection should also be taped up, and it's also a good idea to secure the new wire connection using a plastic wire tie.

    • With everything hooked up, press the cam switch "on" for the new high-tech mirror. It should now be working.

    • Next, run the cable to the rear for our back-up camera by tucking it along the carpeting (figure E).

For the next portion of the project, Bruce and Tony install the rear-bumper camera to help avoid back-up accidents.
