  • Honda S2000: Wiring the Controls for the Spoiler and Canards
  • Honda Aerodynamics Upgrade: Part 4 of 4
    From "Tricked Out"
    episode DTRK-307

    (Continued from page 1)

  • Several wires need to be run through the firewall to the fuse panel under the dash. Find a small hole in the firewall covered by a grommet and make some extra room using a utility knife.

  • Run the red and black wires from the control box through the grommet using a grabber tool, and then release those under the dash and grab the green-and- white and blue-and-white canard signal wires from the remote control receiver and pull them back through to the engine bay.

  • The green-and-white wire connects to the white wire of the control box, and the blue-and-white wire connects to the box’s brown wire.

  • Once all the connections are made, wrap them with electrical tape, split loom the wires to the grommet, and secure them out of the way of any moving parts.

  • Inside the car, it’s time to hook up the rest of the wires. Gather up the red wires from the canard control box, the spoiler control box, and the key chain remote control box. Cut them to the same length and add a fuse tap.

  • Do the same with the black wires, but use a ground-worthy eyelet connector instead.

  • Next, the blue-and-white extensions from the spoiler motor get wired to the spoiler control box (figure E).

  • Cut both extensions to length and connect the blue extension to the blue wire from the control box and the white wire to the blue wire with a white stripe and that box is ready to go.

  • The key chain remote control box has some extra channels that aren’t used in this project, so snip off the remaining wires and tape them up.

  • After all the control boxes are wired, the fuse tap goes into a key-on accessory fuse location (figure F) and the ground gets connected to a bolt under the dash (figure G).

  • Wire-tie the control units into place and dress all the wires out of the way (figure H).

  • Then go back through and tuck the spoiler motor extension into the front kick panel.

The canards operate by a remote control key chain. You can either keep it with your keys or mount it in an easily accessible location in the car using hook-and-loop tape.

Once the wiring is completely installed, the negative battery cable can go back on. Secure the hood, reinstall the bumper, and the project is complete.

    The Bottom Line:

    Power spoiler $900
    Power canards $300
    Shift knob $100
    Electrical supplies $15

    Total = $1315
