  • Acura Integra Body-Kit: Vented Carbon-Fiber Hood
  • From "Tricked Out"
    episode DTRK-104

    PHOTO

The 1994 Acura Integra BEFORE the upgrades.
In this segment of Tricked Out the 1994 Acura Integra gets a carbon-poly hood that's much lighter than the stock hood and vented to help keep things cool underneath. Also, Andrew opts for new 18-inch wheels to give the car additional appeal.

DIY Difficulty Rating for the Procedure: This job could be described as challenging, but not off the charts. We gave it a difficulty rating of 3 on a 5-point intermediate-level scale.

    Materials used in this segment:

    New carbon-fiber hood
    18-inch wheels
    10mm socket wrench

    Carbon Hood

The new carbon hood weighs in at a featherweight 22 pounds. Installation is simple. Here's the procedure:

    • Remove the bolts that secure original hood using 10mm socket wrench (figure A).

    • With the bolts removed, carefully lift off the factory hood (figure B) and set it aside. We retained ours in storage for possible use later on.

Important: Included below are the steps in this automotive procedure as shown in the episode. These steps are general guidelines that are applicable to most vehicles. With any particular vehicle, there may be procedures, specifications, settings, tolerances, components, etc. that are specific to that vehicle.
