Grease can be tough to clean from your hands, says Ask DIY Car Care Expert Trisha Hessinger. Before you work under the hood, rub waterless hand cleaner on your hands, working it in really well around your fingernails. The cleaner will keep oil from getting into the crevices in your skin. To make clean-up easier, try rubbing dishwashing liquid on your hands before the job. If you get oil on your hands, wash with a combination of granulated sugar and dishwashing liquid. The sugar will act as a scrub, and the dishwashing liquid will help break up the grease. If you're really worried about grease getting on your hands, invest in some disposable latex gloves, available at any drugstore.
