    episode DTRK-304

    (Continued from page 1)

  • Run the new wiring along the fender to the fuse panel near the firewall and secure the grounds to a solid ground point (figure F).

  • At the fuse box, attach the red lead to a constant 12-volt source (figure G), such as the clock.

  • On a show car, you'll want to use wire loom to hide the wiring. Just slide the wires into the slit and tape the ends for a factory look.

  • Next, plug in and secure the relay (figure H), and tidy up the install by adding more split loom.

  • Continue to run and loom the switch leads across the firewall to a grommet near the driver's side.

  • Carefully slide the bumper cover back on, and start a couple of the upper cover bolts to hold it in place.

  • Replace the two screws in the fender well, and then reach underneath the front to secure the two bolts that hold the bottom of the cover.

  • Attach the extension wires for the lighted logo to the logo transformer with spade connectors and tape the connections for a secure and waterproof connection seal.

  • Back up top, replace the remaining bolts in the center of the bumper cover, and finish with the screws and in the front fender wells.

  • Once the cover is back on and secured, you can run the new wiring from the firewall into the car.

  • Find a grommet that is accessible from both sides, and fish the new accessory light wires into the driver's foot well.

  • The Civic has an existing accessory light switch that is a great tie-in for the grille logo light. The driving lights come with a lighted switch that is easy to install.

  • Run the power lead to a switched fuse with a quality fuse tap, and then attach the ground to a solid ground point with an eyelet connector. Plug the harness into the switch.

  • Next, clean the mounting surface with alcohol, and stick the new switch into place (figure I).

Reconnect the battery, and test the lights for proper installation.

Important: Included in this summary are the steps in this automotive procedure as shown in the episode. These steps are general guidelines that are applicable to most vehicles.
