  • Eclipse Light EFX: Wheel Well Lights and Control Unit
  • Some Underbody Flash for a Mitsubishi Eclipse: Part 3 of 4
    From "Tricked Out"
    episode DTRK-303

    (Continued from page 1)

  • Now that the control unit's installed and wired up, it's time to work on the wheel wells. Take the wheels off and raise the car on jack stands.

Important: If you're using four jack stands, make sure that you're on completely level ground.

  • Hold the flexible tubes up to the fender well to make sure the tube is centered (figure I). Be sure to keep the lights away from any suspension parts that could rub against them.

  • Insert a clamp to hold the tube in place, attach it into the fender well with a self-tapping screw (figure J), and do the same for the other side of the clamp.

  • Next, drive a self-tapping screw through the end of the tube (figure K), then remove the tape that marked the correct direction.

  • Finish up by adding a final screw to the other side.

  • After the wheel well lights are installed repeat the same simple process for each of the remaining wheel wells (figure L), and you'll be ready to plug the lights into the underbody kit. Each wheel well is going to be slightly different depending on the car model and the body kit's installed.

  • Important: When connecting the wire plugs, note that the plugs have arrows on them that need to meet in order to get a solid connection.

  • After the lights are plugged in, wrap the connections with electrical tape for a weather-tight seal. Then bundle the wires tightly and use wire ties attached to the speed clips to secure them to the car.

  • The final connection should be at the driver's side wheel well between the first wheel well light and the control unit in the car.

  • After that connection is made, bundle the wires and tie them to a hose leading to the engine bay away from moving parts.

After everything is connected and secured, reattach the battery to check out your work.
