  • Quick Tip: Protecting Your Car from Rust
  • From "Ask DIY"

  • When you're buying a new car, make sure to get a guarantee that it's been factory rustproofed (remember: rustproofing is not the same as undercoating). If you're in doubt of whether it's been rustproofed, you can have it redone professionally.

  • Wash and wax your car frequently, including the underside. To do this, drive back and forth over a sprinkler. After washing, dry the car thoroughly and leave the doors open until all the water has dripped out.
