The nooks and crannies in the console of your car or truck are a favorite spot for dust and grime to accumulate, and they can be tough to clean. DIY automotive expert Trisha Hessinger offers some quick and easy tips for cleaning those tight, hard-to-reach spots in your auto's interior using some simple household items.

    • A paintbrush is ideal for removing dust from hard-to-reach places.

    • Use a cotton swab dampened with vinyl protectant to clean out the smallest spaces on your console (figure A).

    • And on the subject of clean interiors, you can get your carpet really clean by using a steam cleaner (figure B). These can be rented at many home improvement stores. Simply follow the manufacturer's instructions, and go to work!
