The shiny finish on your car is called a clear-coat finish, and it's there to protect your paint job. The clear-coat can get dull over time. You can get the shiny look back again with a clear-coat polishing compound. Here's how.
- Start with a clean, dry car. Wet a small area of the car with the clear-coat polishing compound. Use something soft like a clean cotton diaper or towel to rub in the polishing compound.
- Apply the compound using the clean cloth in straight lines, not a circular motion.
- When the compound dries to a haze, use a second clean cloth to rub the car clean.
- Continue this process, working on one section at a time.
- Once you've polished the entire vehicle exterior, follow up with a car wax to protect the finish.
