The moment of truth — the first test drive.
    New Steering Wheel

    • Christie installs the door panels, which were removed before the car was painted.

    • Andrew works to finish the new steering column. First, he slides the turn signal lever onto the catch inside the hub. Then he screws in the column tilt lever and the hazard flasher button and adds the billet aluminum knob to the end of the shift lever.

    • To install the custom steering wheel, Andrew first has to slide on an adapter ring and secure it with the steering wheel nut. Then he tightens up the nut.

    • Christie holds the new suede-trimmed steering wheel in place while Andrew secures it with hex-head screws.

    • They install the remainder of the screws, and finally stick the shift indicator on top of the column to complete the El Camino restomod.

All that' s left is the test drive. Andrew and Christie take the El Camino out for a spin to show off the results of their hard work.
