Modern Entertainment System

Automotive audio expert Johnny Ray joins Steve to upgrade our Mustang with a modern, high-tech audio system.

Johnny discusses "hidden" system upgrades that can be installed in any car so that the original vintage radio can be kept in the dash, but with modern technological and sound-quality upgrades. Some of the systems available feature MP3 compatibility and USB ports. Johnny then shows our new state-of-the-art system (figure C) that looks practically identical to the original analog Mustang radio but turns digital when it powers on. He also shows our replacement high-watt dash speaker, Mustang kick-panel speakers, and CD-changer, which will be installed in our Mustang.

Steps:

• Our new modern audio system is easy to install as the radio simply connects to the wiring harness and fits perfectly in the stock dash hole.

• The knob stud nuts are tightened down and the knobs are installed.

• Since it is custom made for this model Mustang and this application, the new 150 watt speaker easily connects to the dash harness and fits beautifully into the dash-mount hole. The new high-power capacity speaker is topped off with the speaker grill.
