Restoration expert Chad White joins Steve Magnante to restore the interior of our 1965 Mustang fastback, including installing a new headliner, reupholstering the seats and installing a new molded red carpet. Steve also shows how to repaint interior panels and installs the panels, rearview mirror and sun visor.
Project Overview: Interior RestorationChad and Steve refurbish and restore the interior of our Mustang, starting with the headliner. Chad shows how to install insulation to reduce road noise and then how to install the bows and material and create a tight headliner. Next, Chad demonstrates how to reupholster Mustang seats with new foam and padding, and new seat covers, securing them all using "hog ring" fasteners. The reupholstered seats are then installed. Chad continues to help Steve with the interior restoration by installing a sound-reducing underlayment to the floor of our Mustang. They then install new red carpet that's molded for a perfect fit. Steve demonstrates how to use specialty automotive interior spray paints to repaint plastic and vinyl interior panels. He paints a Mustang kick panel and then installs some of the painted interior panels into our car. To complete the interior restoration, Steve shows how to install the rearview mirror and sun visors.
