In this Tricked Out project, host Andrew Totolos installs shaved door handles on a Honda Civic SI. Now that the solenoids have been installed into the doors, it's time to deal with the wiring. Andrew continues the modification by wiring up the control unit for the remote.

Wiring the Control Unit- In this particular system there are five relays (figure A) that all have a separate channel assigned to them. There's one to unlock the doors, one to lock the doors, one to operate each door solenoid, and a safety relay. Most of it can be pre-wired at the workbench (figure B).
Start with the control unit and add female spade connectors to the wires that are used for the installation (figure C).The brown wire is channel one. It will be used to unlock the doors. The yellow with a strip is channel two, which will be the lock button. The blue-and-white wire triggers the driver's door solenoid. The green-and-white wire triggers the passenger door. Each of those female spades can be attached to an 86 terminal on separate relays (figure D).
After the signal wires are installed, you can loop power to the 30 and 85 terminals on each relay. Combine two red wires into a female spade, and then cut one side short, attach another connector and plug them into the terminals (figure E).Do that for all four relays, and then add extension wires to run to the accessories in the car (figure F).
Once the relays are wired you can wire tie them to a short length of perforated strap, along with the control unit (figure G). Cut off the unused wires (figure H) and wrap them each with electrical tape.Label each relay with a paint marker to prevent confusion in the car.
