On this episode of DIY Tools & Techniques, we pay tribute to the Eastern Influence in tools. First author, Sandor Nagyszalanczy, brings a collection of Japanese planes, saws, and measuring tools, so that we can admire the craftsmanship of Eastern tools. Sandor then, shows how Japanese hand planes differ from their western counterparts in design and performance. Then cabinet maker, Patrick Huggins, gives a lesson on using Japanese hand saws. And, we see how Eastern tools have found their way into the crafting of Western pottery in potter, John Sellberg's studio.
