Kate and Brad Bolger's Columbus, Ohio, kitchen is a sad testament to their botched attempts at DIY fix ups. They tried patching peeling and even painting the old linoleum floor and it looks terrible. They cannot even run a mop over it. They do not have adequate storage, either. Their attempts at new countertops have resulted in two different colors of peeling countertops. This family needs a dishwasher to keep up with their family's dirty dishes. They also need more countertop space, and a color scheme to brighten and help unify the kitchen. Their kitchen area has two separate spaces -- a main area with appliances, and a pantry/storage area.
The Rescue team levels the uneven floor and installs a tap-and-lock laminate. A pre-manufactured wider counter top is fitted and glued and screwed in. Ventilated wood shelving adds needed storage. Finally, new a stainless steel stove, oven microhood and dishwasher make this a functioning whole. Paint and lighting fixtures complete the transformation.
