Little did Derek Stearns know that the stonemasonry craft his father taught him at an early age would give him the rock-solid skills he needed for a successful career later. Derek has owned a masonry business since 1990 and creatively carves materials like concrete, brick and wall stone to construct everything you can imagine. With years of experience working outdoors, Derek is a plant guru with a knack for knowing which plants thrive best when incorporated into different outdoor stonescapes. Derek, along with his cousin and DIY Network co-host Dean Marsico, are combining new and old materials to create original, affordable outdoor designs. From paper stone to ice stone, this duo consistently demonstrates to viewers that no challenge is too great for their strong hands and determined minds. From a 40-ton stone water feature with a putting green to simple waterfalls and accents to enhance any outdoor space, you don’t want to miss Derek on DIY Network's Rock Solid and Indoors Out series.
