How to Make Chalkboard Serving Trays From Old Picture Frames

Upcycle old picture frames by turning them into handy trays. Use chalkboard paint on the base to write messages or recipes, or to have the kids create artwork.

Customized to Whatever You Serve

To make a tray, you will need: an 11” x 14” or 16” x 20” picture frame; two drawer handles; 1/2” plywood; chalkboard paint; liquid bonding adhesive; a caulk gun; a drill and drill bit case (to accommodate different sizes of screws); circular saw measuring tape; 3/4” to 1-1/4” wood screws (depending on thickness of picture frame); a screwdriver; a mini roller; a roller handle; and a mini roller pan.
