Measure and cut the wood beam into 8 pieces (4 inches long each) for the feet of the bench (Image 1). Use a circular saw and cut into one side, then turn over and cut the rest. (Clamp onto the bench for security.) Sand, stain and seal with shellac (Image 2). Apply a second coat of shellac.
Apply wood glue to the feet. Place each one under the corners. Screw them into place from the inside of the cabinet. Use at least three screws per foot.
