Basic sewing knowledge and castoff buttons are all you need to create a one-of-a-kind bracelet.
More in Decorating
Materials and Tools:
vintage or new buttons in a variety of colors and sizes
small beads in colors to coordinate with buttons
wide elastic band
scissors
needle and thread
Steps:
1. Cut a piece of the elastic long enough for a snug fit around your wrist with a 1/2-inch overlap.
2. Select a variety of buttons and decide how to arrange them on the elastic; overlap a few if you want to give the bracelet more dimension. Leave room to sew the overlapping edges of elastic together.
3. Stitch the buttons in place securely. Tip: Tie the stitches off between the buttons and the elastic instead of on the back of the elastic to keep the knots from rubbing against your wrist. Let some of the buttons hang over the edge of the elastic and top some buttons off with beads. Finally, stitch the ends of the elastic together.
