How to Create Custom Envelopes for Christmas Gift Cards
This holiday season, make gift cards feel more special by wrapping them in homemade envelopes that feature colorful paper and lacy paper doilies.

Although you might hesitate to give gift cards for fear of being impersonal, there’s no doubt that people love receiving them. Make gift cards more personal by wrapping them in festive envelopes made from origami paper and small paper doilies. With a few folds and a knotted ribbon, you've added a homemade touch to everyone's favorite practical present.
Materials Needed
- scissors
- drafting compass
- origami paper in a variety of colors
- glue stick
- lacy paper doiles
- ribbon

Cut the Colorful Lining
A drafting compass is a great tool for helping you get your circle size just right. To measure the radius, place the end of the compass in the center of the doily, then adjust the pencil until it’s a 1/2-inch in from the doily’s scalloped edge. With the compass set, draw a circle on the origami paper, then use scissors to cut it out.

Attach to Doily and Fold Envelope
Apply glue to the colored side of the origami paper circle and place it on the back of the doily. Once the glue has dried, place your gift card in the middle of the lined doily. Fold in each side as pictured, then fold the bottom up and the top down. Finally, secure the area where all four edges come together with a bit of glue and add a festive finishing touch with ribbon.
