Decorating Glass

Episode DCLB-152

Guest Marty Stevens Heebner takes plain glass and gives it a colorful make-over. First, Marty creates a blazing sun plate with gold leaf and glass paints. Then, Marty adds class to glass coasters with faux etching. Finally, Marty shows off some decorative painted bottles.

FIELD PIECE: Gyotaku is the ancient art of fish printing. We give people water-soluble ink, brushes, paper and fresh fish from a market with heads and tails still attached. They apply ink to one side of their fish and rub a sheet of paper against it to create their very own fish print.
