Chris Matthews was born for his role as host of DIY Network’s Classic Rides. Growing up around his father’s engine repair shop, he was drawn to antique automobiles and motorcycles. At an early age, he began showing off his talent and love for engine work.
He built his first bike, an antique mini, at only nine-years-old! Five years later, he refurbished his first car, a classic Studebaker. At age 20, Chris started his antique motorcycle collection with the purchase and complete restoration of his first antique American motorcycle, a 1948 Indian Chief.
Chris currently owns and manages an antique restoration shop, Christopher Matthews Classic Autos, which has restored dozens of 1959 Cadillacs. Much of his work has appeared in commercials and films. Since 1994, he has been a member of the Motorcycle Club of America.
