Cat Greenleaf does it all. During the day, she hosts On the Prowl with Cat Greenleaf on NYC TV in New York. At night and on weekends, she is the patron saint of abandoned furniture! Cat dives into dumpsters, climbs over fences, and screeches her car to a halt when she sees a forgotten chair or window frame just waiting for new life as a shabby chic treasure! And that's not all-every Friday night she holds an open house dinner salon on a shoestring budget in a shoebox of an apartment that's completely furnished with her finds. When it comes to clever, small-budget ideas for decorating, entertaining, and creative living, this vivacious thirty-something is the real deal. Cat grew up in Westchester County, New York, and Los Angeles. After attending Boston University's School of Communications, Cat landed a job with Ziff-Davis on its new San Francisco cable technology show. During the six years she lived in San Francisco, she worked in television and radio with posts as varied as restaurant reviewer, entertainment anchor, stunt girl, traffic reporter-she even fronted for a rock band! Cat was able to parlay her experience with traffic and lifestyle reporting into a transfer to New York, where she worked for stations including NY1, WQXR, WFUV, and WWRL. After augmenting her skills at the NYIT journalism school, she landed a job at RNN-TV as the Queens Bureau Chief. She now is happily hosting away on NYC TV, Channel 25. Her experience living in small spaces on small budgets, and her facility with paint brush, glue gun, and press-on letters led her to take advantage of urban settings and Internet listings by tracking down furniture nobody wanted. She then converts it into attractive pieces a lot of people want with her company, Greenleaf Furniture Co. Cat seeks creative outlets that are do-able, affordable, life enhancing, and above all, fun. So, let the faux finishing begin with Cat as the field correspondent on DIY Network's Craft Lab!
