Blockbuster Room

Tucked between the family room and the game room, an entertainment room with a full theater experience provides an exciting space to escape. “Because this house is so much about the views, we wanted to create a space to retreat to in the evening,” says build and design manager Dylan Eastman.

Modern Coffee Table

A fun, modern coffee table is meant to hold popcorn and other movie refreshments.

Projection Screen

A large projection screen delivers a bigger and better theater-like atmosphere.

Making Art Functional

“The wall around the projector screen is a combination of vintage suitcases and speakers, but instead of it being an art piece it’s also functional,” explains Dylan. “The speakers were all found at thrift stores but the speaker wires all run into the central piece, so the amplifier for the movie utilizes the speakers.”

Modern Speakers

Tucked between vintage speakers and suitcases, a modern day speaker system operates like an amplifier for quality theater sound throughout the room.

Ceiling Mounted HD Projector

“This is the only room with no window or view and it is meant to be that way so it has the darkness needed for the projector,” explains Dylan.

Hit the Lights

Recessed and track lighting set the mood for an intimate theater experience.

Critics' Choice

Styled for both adults and kids, the entertainment room features a more subtle and mature color palette with fun vintage accents and theater accessories appealing to all ages.

Grab Some Popcorn

Soundboard drywall cuts down noise transmission from the entertainment room to any other room when watching a movie.

Touch of Old Hollywood

Old tin film reels arranged artistically on the wall were found in Hollywood and continue the vintage, antiquated aura of the entertainment room.

Special Effects

A corner concessions bar offers loads of drink and snack options for all ages, rounding out a complete movie theater experience without having to leave the home.

At Your Fingertips

A few clicks on the remote is all it takes to simulate a movie theater experience at home.

Concessions Bar

All essential theater refreshments are accessible from the concessions bar. A popcorn machine, candy dispensers and a wine bucket are just a few of the amenities that make the space ideal for adults and kids alike.

Vintage Accents

Some of the suitcases in the vintage suitcase and speaker wall below the projector pull out for easy access to electrical equipment.

Sound Absorbing Floor

A cork floor in combination with fabric panels cut down echo in the entertainment room.

Privacy Please

Accessible from both the family room and game room, the entertainment room can be closed off for privacy and a true theater experience.

Show Stopper

Vintage suitcases were an inspiration for the entertainment room and helped dictate the color palette. “To me this room has a richer experience to it,” says design coordinator Laurie March. “These colors from a bygone era were what we were reaching for, and sometimes it is fun to explore things that are a little more distinctive and different.”
