Foyer storage

There is an abundance of clever storage for vacation gear and personal items at Blog Cabin 2014. Upon entry, you're greeted with a mudroom-inspired storage system that keeps clutter and outside elements from coming into the home.

Hat rack

Keeping a house dry can be a challenge when it rains. A coat and umbrella stand for hats, dripping clothes, and soaked umbrellas is an essential storage solution to free up closet space.

Hidden Media Storage

In the family room a 65-inch, flat-screen TV hangs on the custom-designed media wall, which incorporates hidden storage for electronics.

A shuffleboard table, constructed from industrial-style shelving on rollers, provides extra storage for blankets, books and games.

Reclaimed Wood Desk

Located in the office, a custom drafting desk was built with an adjusting hinge to add versatility. "You can angle the desk up to draw or flatten it out for computer work," explains project manager Dylan Eastman. Apple crates function as clever desk drawers with vintage flare.

Reclaimed letterbox shelves

The Blog Cabin and Mega Dens team refurbished treasures discovered in the original home. "We took an old mail sorter from the shed of the house, painted it, and mounted it on the wall to hold office supplies and stationary," says Dylan.

Wooden hat rack

A wall-mounted piece of driftwood for hanging scarves, hats, and coats, pays tribute to the home's location on Lake Hamilton.

Staying out of sight in the sunroom, racks mounted underneath the counter provide a designated space to keep fishing equipment organized.

Drawer detail

Pullout drawers offer clever hideaways to quickly store and retrieve whatever you may need for the lake.

Entry to living room

With one look around the living room, you'll notice a common theme inspired by the relaxing lakeside atmosphere. A bookcase is designed to look like a rowboat. It's a functional and fun way to display charming accessories, from vintage books to an old life preserver.

China cabinet

The dining room hutch, salvaged from the original home, is repainted in light blue with a distressed look, and placed into the new dining room to match the vintage vibe found throughout.

Hanging cookware storage

In the kitchen, a custom-built pendant provides unique storage for pots, pans, and displaying plants.

Rolling reclaimed wood island

A mobile island is constructed with reclaimed wood, providing safe keeping for glass kitchen wear underneath.

Pantry storage

This pantry provides plenty of room to store kitchen essentials, while glass doors give the illusion of more space in the kitchen. A custom-designed rack crafted in an espresso finish provides additional wine storage space.

Pull out drawers keep kitchen items well organized.

Storage over appliances

When style meets functionality, a workspace like this can make laundry time more enjoyable. Gray custom-made shelves surround lemon and lime striped wallpaper for a bold pop of color within the room. A telescope valet rod comes in handy for hanging and drying clothes.

Storage cabinet

Tucked away underneath the window, a closed cabinet hides the less attractive cleaning supplies.

Slat wall

Supplies used most often are neatly organized in baskets over the folding table to make for an orderly, accessible work area.

Outer hallway bulletin board

Located between the kid's bedroom and guest bedroom, there is a perfect nook for a message center to spice up a long, uninteresting hallway. "If you want to leave notes for guests about where you are and what you are doing, there is a place to put all that," says Dylan.

Closet with activity books

To avoid any wasted space in the kid's bedroom, a cozy reading corner nestles in the spacious walk-in closet.

Sliding bookcase-half open

Upstairs in the master suite, this clever sliding bookshelf provides storage and a secret entrance into the master bedroom. Custom, curvy bookshelves mimic the lake's natural beauty. "Instead of painting the edge, it's sealed to bring out the varying layers of the plywood," explains Dylan. Wires line the sliding bookshelf to keep books and accessories in tacked.

Closet storage-wide

From hanging storage to built-in drawers, the master bedroom's reach-in closet boasts enough space to organize and display all wardrobe essentials. A hook and open shelving provides a convenient spot to store summer hats.

Window seat with shoe storage

A custom-built window seat is complete with shelving and cabinetry to house shoes and seasonal items.

Fire Pit Wood

The outdoor spaces abound with clever storage solutions. Stacking firewood around the perimeter of the fire pit is a convenient storage idea. "If your fire is starting to weaken, all you have to do is grab a piece of wood and throw it in," says Dylan.

Green Dock Cabinets

Located on the boat dock, this sink functions as a place to ice down drinks and plantation-style cabinetry provides a convenient spot to store lakeside essentials.
