A vibrant wall color of "Anjou pear" elevates the design of the laundry room, where a custom counter, fashioned from cherry butcher block and cedar posts milled locally, provides space to fold clothing or spread out craft projects.

Glass tile creates a decorative chair rail, under which nestle Energy Star-rated washer and dryer units. Furnishings are pared down in preparation for the new owner's finishing touch.

Australian cypress flooring, wood blinds and vintage-style furnishings lend lived-in elegance.

Both visually intriguing and functional, a vintage built-in ironing board, purchased at an antiques market, is installed between wall studs.

An 11-inch enameled cast-iron sink with integrated backsplash provides space to prep laundry and treat stains. A glass-tile backsplash completes the design.

Originally planned as separate powder and laundry rooms, the design team dedicated the entire square footage of this first-floor space to laundry and crafting.
