The Kitchen Impossible team installed cabinetry in a U shape, ending with a peninsula that services the kitchen and the living room.

A housewarming gift for the winner of Blog Cabin 2010, a set of OXO cheese knives, each designed for use with a specific texture of cheese, is paired with a wooden cutting board and specialty food products.

European-style ceramic canisters are paired with dark countertop appliances, including a dual bagel toaster oven.

A foil to the kitchen's slick stainless-steel appliances and glass tile, wildflowers, displayed in a seagrass-wrapped vase, spice the space with color.

The deck-mount bridge faucet in a polished chrome finish offers up traditional style and an 8-1/2-inch clearance below the spout to accommodate large pots and pans.

Cottage features of the kitchen include a cast-iron, apron-front undercounter sink and a farmhouse-style wall sconce.

Three shelves of undercounter storage provide space to stow cookbooks, additional serving pieces, fresh fruit and flowers.

An undercounter wine cellar, a luxury kitchen item chosen by online voters, features two digital thermostats to keep reds and whites at ideal temperatures. Wooden slide-out storage shelves and a stainless-steel-framed glass door add to the unit's modern luxury.

A wood rack crafted by Marc Bartolomeo provides additional wine storage space. The 39" W x 23 ½" H rack, installed above the refrigerator, holds up to 21 bottles of wine.

A Whirlpool Gold over-under refrigerator in a stainless-steel finish is among the kitchen's sleek, modern and energy-saving appliances. A chalkboard door, which opens to the basement staircase, keeps the day's to-do's top of mind.

Selected by online voters, the glass mosaic tile backsplash from Surfaces' Elida Glass Collection complements the naturarl quartz countertop, also a People's Choice favorite.

Open shelving takes the place of upper cabinets in the gourmet kitchen. Crafted by Marc Bartolomeo, shelving runs the length of the kitchen and displays a collection of dinnerware and glassware, earthenware crocks, storage baskets and a vintage painting discovered at an antiques shop on Cape Cod.

The Bosch freestanding gas convection range features a high-performance oven and a professional-quality cooktop. A chimney range hood by XO offfers three-speed control and halogen underlights to illuminate the cooktop.

Merillat maple base cabinetry in a chiffon finish brightens the kitchen space. The raised-panel design, a People's Choice selection, is paired with oil-rubbed bronze hardware.

A corner cabinet door opens to reveal a kidney-shaped lazy Susan that offers two independently rotating shelves of storage space – ideal for spices, food stuffs and baking supplies.

A slim pantry pullout adjacent to the stove provides additional storage for bottled sauces, spices and cooking supplies.

A wastebasket pullout features hidden bag storage and accommodates one trash and one recycling bin.

Bamboo flooring extends into the laundry/mud room, which adjoins the kitchen. A security box and a battery recharger are among housewarming gifts chosen for the winner of Blog Cabin 2010.

The laundry room awaits the homeowner's personal touch. A washer and dryer from Frigidare's Affinity line pop against the neutral wall color, and a storage closet provides a space to stow wash-day supplies.
