Cozy, Guest Bedroom Features White Linens and Rich Wood

A sweet spot on the second floor, the guest bedroom takes advantage of an angled ceiling with a grand canopy bed. Crisp white linens, rich wood furnishings and a subtle back-to-nature theme complete the decorating scheme in this cozy getaway.

Reproduction bird prints, framed by Brooks & Black of Atlanta, stand in for a decorative headboard. A subtle bird theme is repeated in vignettes throughout the room.

The canopy bed in a mocha finish is topped with a reversible duvet and rests atop a worsted wool rug from Karastan’s English Manor collection.

Rustic and fun fabrics were chosen to lend a casual vibe to the bedroom. Rich mocha shams are layered to create their own nest and are paired with a tassel-bordered throw pillow.

An original acrylic painting by artist Joycelyn Hairston was inspired by local barns and landscape scenery surrounding the DIY Blog Cabin 2009.

A brown hemstitch on sheets and pillowcases connects to the richly colored pillow shams and dark-wood poster bed.

The guest bedroom features a feast for the eyes from every vantage point. A Henley finish side table adds hunt club elegance to the space. Two restrike engravings, created and framed by Brooks & Black of Atlanta, feature the American black bear.

Basket circles by Palecek make a dramatic statement when set against the otherwise bare walls.

Furnishings with rich finishes and distressed detailing add rusticity to the guest room.

Custom fold-back shutters, crafted to resemble the exterior shutters, were installed to allow for privacy.

Stationary shutters on the opposite side of the overlook add character to the staircase, as do sporting-themed etchings.

A corner chair, upholstered in a pear-hued plaid, gets a rustic touch with a faux-fur pillow.

The guest bathroom features an L-shaped Silestone countertop with his-and-hers Kohler sinks with brushed nickel, deco-style faucets. Antique-reproduction mirrors contrast with the more formal maple cabinetry.

Ferns and greenery reflect the natural setting. Oversized glass apothecary jars hold bathroom necessities.

Picture windows in the guest bathroom are dressed in custom-crafted, burlap tie-up curtains.

The shower stall features ceramic tile accented with dark split-faced marble. Marble is also used to line the shampoo recess.

Sconces in a roasted java finish are customized to suit the space with faux-leather shades.
