Kitchen and Dining Area Pictures From Blog Cabin 2008
Simple Arts-and-Crafts style wooden cabinets help create the warm feel of the kitchen and are visually balanced by the soft tone of the granite countertops.
The dining area, just off the kitchen, features the "twig"-style chandelier selected by online voters and a wine rack/shelving unit fashioned from half a canoe.
Voters also chose modern stainless-steel appliances. They include a six-burner gas range and double refrigerator.
The wall color, Granite Peak, pleasingly offsets the kitchen's dark cabinetry.
The voter-selected "kitchen luxury gadget" is a warming drawer, a handy aid for the on-the-go cook.
The under-mount style sink was selected by online voters. The kitchen garden window helps brighten up the space, and it establishes an ideal spot for growing herbs.
"Bringing the outdoors in" was a deliberate design motif, and the "twig"-style chandelier ties in to the cabin's natural surroundings.
The utility area, just off the kitchen, features ample pantry space and a storage unit that comes in handy in the laundry area.
Online voters gave the thumbs-up to the double-drawer style dishwasher. The wooden cutting board was crafted from reclaimed hardwood flooring by host Ahmed Hassan and DIY's Paul Ryan.
