Great Room Pictures From Blog Cabin 2008

Vaulted ceilings and plenty of windows give the great room an open and airy feel.

The great room, like all of the cabin's main rooms, takes advantage of the beautiful lake views.

The fireplace surround is built of manmade stone, and the mantel was crafted out of a rough-hewn log by DIY's Matt Blashaw. The andirons and metal supports for the mantel were crafted by metalsmith Preston Farabow.

Walk through French doors on each side of the fireplace to get to the main level deck.

Fans enhance energy efficiency while adding visual appeal to the raftered ceilings.

Tennessee artisan Preston Farabow also handcrafted the fireplace andirons, known in Southern vernacular as "fire dogs."

Furnishings like this sideboard table and decorative elements were selected to blend with the rustic cabin interiors, creating a relaxed elegance.
