Homeowners Nate and Carolyn moved a year ago with their two sons to this 1918 Arts & Crafts bungalow. The main floor of the house retains its original Arts & Crafts charm with built-ins and back band woodwork. However the upstairs was finished very cheaply with low ceilings and an awful half bathroom. They've shopped around to see what it would take to make the upstairs more livable. To save money, they've decided to have a contractor add a dormer-maybe two and then do the finish work themselves. The dormer will give space for an enlarged bathroom that will be finished in an Arts & Crafts style to match the main level.
Its time for fixtures in this final of four episodes. An oak vanity with a slate countertop is our first project. Then a matching slate benchtop completes the shower room. Period sinks, faucets, and toilet as well as modern steam shower fixtures are added to finish off this renovation.
