Originally from Texas, April Adams received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Broadcast Journalism and got her start in the business as a radio deejay working any shift she could get her hands on! Since then she has worked her way up. She has worked as a television news anchor, reporter, and producer for various CBS affiliates throughout the Southwest. She has also hosted the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon for local television stations, and was the co-creator and moderator of a cable TV show, Explorations in Faith.
April has always wanted to find ways to use her TV experience for the better good, and was especially proud to be the host of the critically-acclaimed educational video, The Truth About Drinking. She has worked as an on-camera spokesperson for such companies as National Gypsum, Price Waterhouse Coopers, and Wachovia Bank. April also hosts and produces the weekly radio show, Lifestyles, Food and Wine, which airs regionally in her home state of North Carolina.
When not busy with her television and radio work, April spends the rest of her time helping her husband run three busy restaurants in the resort area of Lake Lure. Married since 1999, the couple shares a passion for food and wine, and spends much of their free time cooking, dining out, and learning about new and exciting wines. The ultimate "girl of summer," April enjoys water skiing, swimming, and chasing after her 80-pound black Lab, Oscar!
April brings both her food background and her on-camera experiences to the screen on DIY Network's Fire Up the Grill.
