Licensed contractor Amy Matthews is the real deal. She's lethal with a sledgehammer and a master of remodeling and renovation. Over the years Amy has rolled up her sleeves and learned the best and smartest way to tackle projects is to use the right tools, the right way. She recently played the role of general contractor on a major basement renovation in her 1924 Craftsman bungalow. Amy has been featured on the pages of The Family Handyman magazine and worked with Country Living magazine on its “House of The Year” project. In 2008, she journeyed to New Orleans in support of Habitat for Humanity International’s Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project. In 2009, she logged many more miles and volunteer hours when she visited Asia for the annual build. Following her visit, she traveled to Cambodia to explore the ruins of Angkor and indulge her fascination with world architecture and cultures. This year, she plans to pursue more Habitat for Humanity work across the country. Of course, you’ll still find her on DIY Network as she shares everything she knows hosting This New House, Sweat Equity, Bathroom Renovations and the third season of Blog Cabin.
